For the last couple weeks I've been working on a still life for my painting class, which I started by throwing a ton of items in a box. I continued filling this shoebox until the contents wouldn't budge, by building it up like this the items were near the top exposing them to the light, making them easier to see. Next, I created a grid of 12 squares (3x4) for both the box and the canvas I'm working with.

These are some pen and ink images from the Drawing I class I took last year. I believe these examples came out quite well considering I haven't had much experience with this medium previously.
